Senior Solution Engineer - MSP
Job Description:
The Senior Solutions Engineer is a senior-level technical role responsible for transforming client IT environments through advanced solution design, project execution, and high-level technical leadership. This position requires deep expertise across infrastructure, networking, cloud services, virtualization, and security. It is ideal for seasoned IT professionals who excel in self-directed environments and can independently lead complex technical initiatives.
This role is both strategic and hands-ondesigning architectures such as VDI deployments, server migrations, Azure infrastructure, and network optimizations, while also supporting a limited number of high-level escalations. The position demands technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate confidently in client-facing settings.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Solution Design: Architect scalable solutions such as VDI, Azure deployments, and router/firewall setups that integrate seamlessly with client systems.

Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks in technical designs and implementations to ensure stability and continuity.

Solution Implementation: Deploy complex solutions including server migrations, Microsoft 365/Google Workspace migrations, and full infrastructure redesigns.

Project Management: Independently manage technical projects from scoping through completion, setting expectations, managing timelines, and resolving blockers without a dedicated PM.

Support Escalations: Serve as a final escalation point for advanced technical issues, providing reliable guidance and resolution when lower tiers are exhausted.

Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to internal teams using strong knowledge in networking, virtualization, and cloud technologies.

Time Capture: Accurately record time in PSA systems to support project analysis and service delivery insights.

Client Collaboration: Communicate effectively with clients to align solutions with business goals, provide training, and uphold a customer-first approach.

Team Collaboration: Work with cross-functional departments to ensure cohesive project delivery and escalation handling.

Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry advancements (e.g., VDI, Azure) to inform recommendations and solution design.

Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of projects, processes, and configurations to support internal efficiency and future repeatability.

Automation Identification: Identify opportunities to automate routine tasks and streamline workflows.

Process Improvement: Contribute to ongoing improvements within the professional services team.

Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate advanced technical proficiency through a combination of education, certifications, and hands-on experience.
Minimum requirements include:

At least five years of IT support or professional services experience, including work in Active Directory environments.

Proven experience designing and deploying solutions such as VDI, server migrations, Microsoft 365/Google Workspace migrations, Azure infrastructure, and enterprise networking (including DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls).

Strong project management capability to lead complex implementations independently.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for clients and collaborate effectively across teams.

Experience with PSA, RMM, and ticketing systems.

Reliable transportation for occasional on-site customer engagements.

Must pass a background check.
