About the job Senior QA Engineer
About Daye
Daye is a highly ambitious health platform. We operate in a strongly monopolised, low-innovation industry, with the aim of rebuilding the relationship between women and their health. We deliver on our mission to bridge the gender gap in medical research & innovation with products rooted in scientific rigour, and inspired by female intuition.
After close to a decade of extensive R&D work, our full portfolio of products and services across vaginal, menstrual, cervical and hormonal health are now live in the UK, EU and US markets.
Daye is a values-driven medical technology company advancing womens health through rigorous science and clinically validated innovation. We design and manufacture medical devices that improve outcomes, access, and equity in gynaecological care - grounded in evidence, not hype.
Our ambition is global. Beyond the US, UK, and EU, we are committed to ensuring that patients in the Global South benefit from our technologies. We design solutions that are scalable, affordable, and deployable within real-world healthcare systems.
About the opportunity
Daye is hiring a Senior QA Automation Engineer to set and raise the quality bar for our software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) platform.
This role goes beyond test execution. You will own and evolve our automated quality strategy across patient-facing and clinical systems, ensuring our software meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Working closely with product, engineering, clinical, and regulatory teams, you will design robust test frameworks, embed quality early in the development lifecycle, and help scale a platform that directly impacts patient outcomes.
We are looking for a hands-on senior engineer who will own our end-to-end testing strategy and execute on it day to day. This is a builder role, not a coordinator role. You will be in the code, in the pipelines, and in the details - while keeping a clear view of risk, patient safety, and regulatory expectations. The location of the position is Sofia, Bulgaria.
Skillset requirements
A hands-on Senior QA Automation Engineer who owns quality end to end and writes production-grade test code.
Strong experience in test automation and modern testing best practices across the full development lifecycle.
Proven ability to test both front-end and back-end systems, including APIs and data flows.
Hands-on experience with Node.js, React, and Playwright.
Familiarity with a TypeScript-based stack; experience with PostgreSQL and Google Cloud is a plus.
Comfortable using tools such as Git, Postman, and AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code).
Experience with e-commerce or transactional systems is a bonus; exposure to regulated or high-trust environments is a plus.
Desired mindset
Strong sense of ownership with the drive to move things forward independently and responsibly, not wait for permission or external motivation.
Comfortable operating in ambiguity, adapting quickly as products, requirements, and regulations evolve.
Relentlessly quality-driven, with a deep care for reliability, performance, and patient safety.
Open-minded and innovative, keen to thoughtfully adopt modern AI-assisted tools alongside proven engineering best practices.
Engineering-minded, with a willingness to contribute to core software development where it improves overall product quality.
Responsibilities
Champion the creation and execution of our overall testing strategy.
Build, own and maintain test cases.
Implement automation tests with the assistance of the software team and modern AI practices. We highly appreciate modern AI-driven solutions.
Pushing the boundaries in terms of performance & stability - challenge decisions in terms of testing approach and best practices.
You build it, you own it, you run it vision and execution.
