Role: Superintendent: Supply Chain Management
Reporting to: Executive: Finance and Supply Chain
Location: Walvis Bay
Nature of the position: Permanent role
Primary purpose of this position:
- To plan, coordinate, and facilitate within budgetary provisions of Supply Chain Management projects and the supply of resources related to the Finance and Supply Chain Section at Namdock.
- Additionally, to provide technical expert advice that relates to all areas of the job, including the utilisation of specialised supply chain equipment/systems.
Key Performance Areas:
Operational Supervision
Compile the functional planning for the Supply Chain Section cascaded from the Divisional plan.
Supervise the implementation of the relevant operational plan.
Strategic Procurement and Inventory Management
Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with organizational goals.
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term relationships.
Monitor market trends and assess supplier performance to optimize procurement strategies.
Logistics and Distribution
Oversee the logistics and transportation of materials to and from the shipyard.
Develop efficient distribution networks to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Health and Safety
Oversee team compliance with all aspects related to Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental rules.
Identify, through inspections, hazardous areas on site and workshops and liaise with the Integrated Management Systems and Safety, Security, and Environment (SSE) Department for amicable solutions or precautions and implement such.
Tenders and Evaluations
Prepare and review evaluations for projects internally (at Namdock) and externally as required; and submit the evaluations to Executives or to the Technical/Production Teams/Operations.
Liaise with Client and Project Managers on deviations and obtain approval for commencement of deviations on submission.
Annual Staff Development
Oversee the identification of employee training needs analyses from Supply Chain Team (annually) in line with staff personal development plans and career advancement.
Human Resource Management
Manage staff absenteeism and advances through leave applications (e.g. review, approve, and process leave applications).
Enforce company disciplinary procedures on all matters of non-compliance within the Supply Chain Section.
Budget Control
Provide input to the budgeting for Supply Chain activities in areas of responsibility.
Analyse and maintain budget requests for all supply chain work.

Qualification and Experience Required:
- Three (3) year Bachelors Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related field (NQF Level 7).
- Eight (8) years experience of in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, of which Five (5) years relevant experience is on Supervisory level.
- A Valid Drivers Licence (Code B).
