Position: Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO)

Five-Year Contract

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Job Grade: E Upper

Purpose of Role

The CTIO leads Telecom Namibia's technology and digital transformation strategy, ensuring the resilience, security, and scalability of networks and IT systems. The role requires expertise in 5G, cloud-native architectures, network automation, and cybersecurity to support the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee 5G network deployment and fiber expansion, ensuring national connectivity.
  • Implement cloud-based services, virtualization, and AI-driven network automation.
  • Lead cybersecurity initiatives, including managed security services for business customers.
  • Drive IoT, AI, and edge computing adoption in telecom infrastructure.
  • Manage IT and network security, ensuring compliance with international standards.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology and digital strategy that supports Telecom Namibia's business goals and drives innovation.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and applications, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Develop and implement data management and analytics strategies to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Build and lead a high-performing technology team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Key Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering, IT, Telecommunications, or Business Informatics, or a related field with a Postgraduate Qualification
  • with a minimum of ten (10+) years in ICT and in a senior information technology leadership role.
  • Registered with the relevant Engineering Council.
  • Proven experience in cloud computing, cybersecurity, and/or 5G network operations, is desired.
  • Proven track record of driving technology innovation and digital transformation.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, IT systems, and cybersecurity.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills and Experience in managing large-scale technical projects.
