Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and certified Diesel Mechanic with strong expertise in vehicle electronics to take on the role of Workshop / Fleet Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of the entire vehicle fleet. The ideal candidate will combine technical proficiency with strong organizational and leadership capabilities to ensure optimal fleet performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet & Workshop Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of the workshop, ensuring all work is performed to the highest standards.

  • Plan and schedule routine maintenance and repairs across the fleet to minimize downtime.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.

  • Supervise workshop staff, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance and productivity.

  • Maintain detailed records of vehicle repairs, services, and parts inventory.

Technical Duties:

  • Carry out advanced diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, drivetrains, and vehicle electronic systems.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide technical support and training to mechanics and junior staff.

  • Liaise with suppliers and manage the procurement of parts, tools, and consumables.

Administrative & Reporting:

  • Monitor fleet performance, fuel usage, and maintenance costs to optimize operational efficiency.

  • Prepare maintenance schedules, job cards, and monthly reports for management.

  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance systems and workshop procedures.

  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.

Requirements:

  • Certified Diesel Mechanic qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel vehicles, including modern vehicle electronic systems.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a fleet or logistics environment.

  • Strong computer literacy for managing records, diagnostics, and maintenance schedules.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Valid driver's license (Code EC/Heavy Vehicle license is an advantage).
