Job Summary:

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations within a logistics environment that includes a truck workshop, tyre bay, trailer repairs (where applicable), offices, drivers' canteen, and drivers' locker room. The role involves conducting risk assessments, implementing safety procedures, and fostering a strong safety culture among employees.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety Compliance & Regulations.
• Ensure compliance with local and international HSE laws and company safety policies.
• Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and SOPs.
• Conduct regular inspections, internal audits, and risk assessments.
• Ensure proper licensing, permits, and regulatory compliance for all workshop and driver activities.
• Assist Workshop Manger in Workplace Safety Management.
• Identify hazards and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
• Develop and enforce safety protocols for high-risk areas such as the truck workshop, tyre bay, and trailer repairs.
• Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assign SHE Representative duties and responsibilities.
• Ensure fire safety compliance, including the maintenance of extinguishers and emergency exits.
• Incident Reporting, and Management.
• Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes.
• Maintain records of injuries, safety violations, and corrective actions.
• Report findings and propose corrective measures to management.
• Develop and implement emergency response and evacuation plans.
• Emergency Preparedness.
• Ensure first aid kits and emergency equipment are stocked and accessible.
• Safety Training & Awareness.
• Conduct regular fire drills and emergency response exercises.
• Conduct safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
• Organize regular safety training sessions and toolbox talks.
• Ensure all employees understand and adhere to safety procedures.
• Health & Hygiene Management.
• Ensure the drivers' canteen and locker room maintain high hygiene standards.
• Promote wellness programs to encourage a healthy workforce.
• Monitor compliance with occupational health regulations.
• Equipment, and Vehicle Safety.
• Ensure all trucks, trailers, and workshop equipment comply with safety regulations.
• Inspect lifting equipment, power tools, and machinery for proper functioning and safety compliance.
• Oversee safe working procedures in the tyre bay and ensure proper handling of tools and materials.

Qualification & Experience

• Certification in safety management systems (e.g.: NEBOSH, SAMTRAC).
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and industry best practices.
• Experience with accident investigation and risk assessments
