Job Overview:
- troubleshooting, serving and assisting users by installing and servicing systems and products, keeping an inventory (Install Base) of all medical equipment installed in the Public and Private Sector, as well as meeting all the required sales targets as set in the annual plans.
- responsibility for the workshop and equipment by making sure that everything is used safely and correctly.
Key Responsibilities:
Establishes service by studying system requirements, ordering and gathering components and parts, completing installations and performing acceptance tests on equipment such as Xray machines, ultrasound machines, CT scanners and MRI machines, as well as infusion pumps, ventilators, defibrillators, nebulisers, dialysis and anaesthesia machines, amongst others.
Serves existing accounts by analysing work orders and planning daily work activities
Investigates complaints, conducts tests and resolves problems timeously
Maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques and recommending system improvements
Ensures proper repair and servicing of equipment and devices
Provides user training on equipment to stakeholders/users in conjunction with the Clinical Applications Specialist
Checks equipment coming in and going out of the warehouse and workshop
Prepares quotes for customers on servicing of equipment
Ensures the proper use of all tools and test equipment in the workshop
Carries out detailed evaluation of workshop equipment to ensure that they are in good working condition
Ensures that all installed equipment is operational by following manufacturer recommendations for:
1. troubleshooting breakdowns
2. maintaining supplies (of spare parts and accessories)
3. performing preventive maintenance
4. performing repairs
Ensures maximum safety of all by observing all safety measures, and reports conditions that are likely to endanger safety
Adheres to legislation, policies and procedures in terms of safe working conditions
Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records
Maintains customer confidence by keeping service information confidential
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications and attending all training as required by the company
Desired qualifications, experience and competencies:
Diploma or Degree in Biomedical engineering/Electrical Engineering or related field
Registration with HPCNA an added advantage
Minimum 3 years' experience in a hospital or clinical environment (preferred)
Basic knowledge of patient monitoring and life support equipment, medical imaging systems and critical care equipment
Regional knowledge and ability to form and maintain relationships with clinical staff, with a strong emphasis on professionalism and accountability during interactions
Ability to quickly develop in-depth knowledge about applicable products and markets, with the ability to read technical manuals and schematics
Networking and IT basic knowledge for connected medical devices
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Flexibility to work late and unscheduled hours, with travel to various regions within the country required (expected overall travel to amount to approximately 50%-60% of normal working hours)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
