ROLE PURPOSE

The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) is seeking a talented and mission-driven graphic designer to support our communications and marketing efforts on a part-time basis. This position is estimated to require 20 hours per week, however, the exact number of hours can be flexible according to the candidate's needs.

Reporting to the content manager, the graphic designer will bring strong creative vision and technical expertise to translate complex, data-driven content into clear, engaging and visually compelling designs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly collaborative and comfortable working across a wide range of formats and platforms while maintaining strong brand consistency.

CORE COMPETENCIES AND POSITION SCOPE

Core functions and responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, design and optimize visual assets for reports, publications, presentations, social media campaigns, thought leadership initiatives, email marketing, website content, events, digital advertising and more.
  • Clarify what collaboration looks like
  • Design layouts for data-rich content, including research reports (link to some reports here for examples) and executive presentations, ensuring clarity and visual impact.
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of GIIN brand guidelines and templates.
  • Edit, resize and retouch images; prepare assets for use across multiple digital and print platforms.
  • Prepare files for digital and print distribution, ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Incorporate feedback and ensure accessibility, consistency and adherence to brand standards across all materials.
  • Stay current on design best practices, trends and emerging tools and technologies.

THE SUCCESS PROFILE

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in graphic or digital design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a balance of creativity, layout and attention to detail across digital and print work.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, layout and visual hierarchy.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing reports and PowerPoint presentations, including translating complex information into compelling visuals.
  • Excellent data visualization skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous learning and growth
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and familiarity with collaboration tools such as Slack, Asana, Microsoft Office, Canva and Google Workspace.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of impact investing, sustainable finance or related fields
  • Experience working in international or globally distributed team environments

COMMITMENT 

This is a part-time engagement, expected at approximately 20 hours per week, but open to a flexible working schedule depending on deliverables, with some weeks requiring higher availability depending on deliverables and others lower. 

LOCATION & WORK ELIGIBILITY

Remote with the option to work in our office based in lower Manhattan.

Candidates must possess valid authorization to work in the United States that does not require employment visa sponsorship. For example, possessing U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency (Green Card).

COMPENSATION

The GIIN is committed to pay equity. The salary range for this role is between $45 – 50 per hour, with exact salary depending on experience, with an excellent working context.

We aim to offer competitive salaries and are committed to fairness, trust, and consistency in compensation. Basing compensation on someone's willingness and ability to negotiate or on their prior salary can lead to unfair outcomes in how people are paid, particularly for individuals experiencing barriers. Therefore, we do not ask for prior pay history from our candidates and our offer-making process is negotiation-free for salaries and benefits.
