HireNow Staffing is currently searching for a Stormwater Engineer (Technical Lead) to join an established water resources team supporting major infrastructure and environmental projects in Illinois and Indiana. What You'll Be Doing
As a technical lead, you'll guide the engineering process from modeling through final design supporting sustainable, cost-effective solutions for stormwater, roadway drainage, and flood mitigation projects. Your role will blend hands-on technical work with project leadership and team mentorship.
Responsibilities Include:

Leading stormwater and drainage design for infrastructure and municipal projects

Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for open stream systems, culverts, bridges, and flood-prone areas

Designing conveyance systems, detention/retention basins, and water quality features
-
Overseeing erosion control and sedimentation plans
-
Managing project deliverables, reviewing team outputs, and ensuring technical accuracy

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, environmental, and construction)

Supporting client relationships and contributing to technical strategy
-
Mentoring junior engineers and shaping technical development within the team
You'll Succeed in This Role If You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering

8-12 years of hands-on experience in water resources or stormwater design
-
Strong working knowledge of HEC-RAS, SWMM, and other modeling tools
-
Proven ability to manage complex technical deliverables
-
Design experience with roadway drainage systems and flood mitigation
-
PE license in Illinois and/or Indiana (required)

A portfolio of relevant projects that showcases your technical leadership

Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)

Experience with erosion control and floodplain regulations
-
Proficiency in MicroStation (AutoCAD a plus)

Experience with state DOT, municipal, or agency projects
