Position Overview
HireNow Staffing is confidentially partnering with a growing manufacturing organization seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to support custom mechanical product development and engineered solutions.
This role is designed for early-career engineers who want hands-on exposure to real-world product design, manufacturing collaboration, and engineering problem-solving. The position requires strong technical fundamentals, design discipline, and a stable employment history. Candidates with frequent short-term roles will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Documentation

Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks or comparable CAD platforms.

Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) with accuracy and revision control.

Participate in structured design reviews and implement engineering feedback.

Support configuration updates, drawing revisions, and controlled document management processes.
Engineering Analysis & Validation

Assist with mechanical calculations and basic stress, fatigue, or load analysis.

Support prototype builds, fit-up verification, and functional testing.

Collaborate with senior engineers to validate performance requirements.

Identify design improvements related to manufacturability and cost efficiency.
Manufacturing & Cross-Functional Support

Work closely with production teams to clarify drawings and resolve design discrepancies.

Support engineering change orders and ERP documentation updates.

Assist with root cause investigations related to mechanical issues.

Ensure designs align with applicable safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.

Experience creating BOMs and participating in formal design reviews.

Understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.

Ability to work onsite in La Vista, NE.

Stable academic and/or employment history.
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Emphasized)

1+ year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Internship or co-op experience supporting mechanical design.

Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or similar).

Exposure to electromechanical assemblies or power transmission systems.

Basic knowledge of stress analysis or simulation tools.

Hands-on comfort working in a plant, assembly, or prototype environment.
