The Role

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the development of a new crypto and payments platform. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will build the founding engineering team, define the technical architecture, establish engineering best practices, and drive delivery from concept to production.

You will work closely with Product, Design, Compliance, Legal, and external technology partners to deliver secure, scalable, and regulated financial products across multiple markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering delivery across digital wallets, payments, custody integrations, KYC, ledger, and account management.
• Build and lead the founding engineering team, establishing a high-performing engineering culture.
• Define scalable architecture and integration frameworks for third-party infrastructure providers.
• Make key build-versus-buy decisions while balancing speed, scalability, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive modern engineering practices including CI/CD, feature flags, automation, observability, and AI-assisted software development.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Compliance, and business stakeholders to deliver regulated fintech solutions.
• Lead vendor evaluations, technical discussions, and strategic technology decisions.
• Stay technically hands-on and provide architectural guidance across the engineering organization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4 years leading engineering teams.
• Experience within digital banking, payments, fintech, crypto exchange, blockchain, or regulated financial services.
• Proven experience delivering production-grade financial or blockchain-based products.
• Strong full-stack engineering background with the ability to make architecture decisions across frontend and backend systems.
• Experience building and scaling distributed engineering teams across multiple regions.
• Strong knowledge of API-first architectures and third-party platform integrations.
• Experience working with compliance, security, and regulatory requirements in financial services.
• Passion for AI-enabled engineering workflows and modern software development practices.
• Startup or scale-up mindset with the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with blockchain technologies, wallets, custody solutions, MPC/HSM, or digital asset infrastructure.
• Knowledge of AML, fraud prevention, identity verification, and payment processing platforms.
• Strong AWS experience, including serverless technologies.
• Experience building distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Swift, Databricks, Datadog, AWS, or LaunchDarkly.
• Experience launching new products or leading greenfield engineering initiatives.
