Position Overview:
Lead the technical design of advanced automotive lighting systems. This role focuses on delivering innovative, compliant lamp solutions through expert-level design, simulation, testing oversight, and mentorship of junior engineers.
Main Responsibilities:
- Define system architecture and detailed design of multifunctional lamp assemblies, including LED modules, optics, and thermal management components.
- Lead optical, thermal, and mechanical simulations (FEA/CFD) to validate system performance.
- Develop and review DVP&R documents and oversee testing for durability, ingress protection (IP), and photometric compliance (ECE, SAE standards).
- Facilitate cross-functional design reviews with stakeholders from program management, quality, electronics, and manufacturing.
- Coordinate with Tier-1 suppliers, manage design verification testing, and handle engineering change orders (ECOs) and product change notifications (PCNs).
- Mentor junior engineers in CAD modeling, DFMEA methodology, and automotive regulatory standards.
- Support intellectual property efforts through patent searches and identification of innovative design opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in automotive lighting design or a closely related discipline.
- Proficient in CAD tools such as CATIA or Siemens NX, and simulation software (e.g., Ansys, lighting simulation platforms).
- Demonstrated success in delivering LED-based automotive lighting systems.
- Strong leadership, project coordination, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience working in an automotive lamp design or Tier-1 supplier environment is highly preferred.
