Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Service Technical Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our field service technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Asset Monitoring: Conduct daily inspections of HVAC, Fire Systems, Lifts, Generators, and Transformers.
First-Line Response: Identify operational faults, secure hazardous areas, and immediately escalate critical failures. - Contractor Escort: Provide site access to specialized technicians and log their arrival/departure times.
- Compliance Logging: Keep neat, accurate records of system pressure gauges, oil levels, and run-hour meters.
- Tenant Liaison: Keep commercial tenants updated on system downtime, service schedules, and repair progress.
- HVAC: Daily temperature logs and belt/filter visual checks completed on time.
- Fire Systems: Weekly testing of booster pumps, alarms, and checking clear access to escape routes.
- Lifts: Daily visual checks of lift cars, lighting, and communication intercoms.
- Generators: Weekly pre-start checks (diesel levels, battery voltage, coolant) and test runs.
- Transformers: Monthly visual inspection for oil leaks, bund wall debris, and structural damage.
- Call-out Response: Response time to after-hours critical equipment alarms or failures.
- Training & Growth: Successful completion of assigned technical asset and safety modules.
Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
Technical certificate in electrical, mechanical, or building services (preferred but not essential). - 1 to 2 years in property maintenance.
- Proven willingness and capability to undergo rapid technical training.
- Valid driver's license.
- Basic understanding of mechanical/electrical components.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to follow strict safety protocols.
- Basic digital literacy for logging reports.
- Compulsory participation in an after-hours emergency call-out roster.
