IT Officer
Job Description:
The IT Officer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the organisation's IT infrastructure across multiple sites. This role serves as the primary point of contact for IT-related matters, ensuring reliable hardware, network connectivity, Microsoft 365 administration, cybersecurity compliance, and end-user support. The incumbent will also manage third-party IT service providers, technology assets, and IT governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure & Asset Management
- Procure, maintain, and manage IT hardware and peripherals.
- Maintain an accurate IT asset register.
- Coordinate hardware upgrades, replacements, and disposals.
- Manage supplier relationships and obtain quotations for IT purchases.
Network & Systems Administration
- Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
- Manage routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, and servers.
- Coordinate with ISPs and service providers to resolve outages.
- Maintain network documentation and system configurations.
Microsoft 365 & Cloud Administration
- Administer Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), MFA, user accounts, groups, and permissions.
- Oversee licensing, cloud backups, and security recommendations.
- Monitor service health and implement best-practice configurations.
End-User Support
- Provide first- and second-line technical support.
- Configure workstations, laptops, software, email accounts, and system access.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding of employees.
- Deliver user training and cybersecurity awareness initiatives.
Vendor & Service Provider Management
- Act as the primary liaison with IT vendors and managed service providers.
- Monitor service delivery and SLA performance.
- Manage software subscriptions, renewals, and licensing compliance.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls and best practices.
- Manage endpoint protection, patching, and access controls.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents and threats.
- Develop and maintain IT policies, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
- Conduct periodic audits of user access and system security.
Printer & Peripheral Support
- Manage printers, consumables, repairs, and maintenance.
- Configure printing services and user access.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3–6 years' experience in an internal IT support, IT Administrator, or IT Officer role.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments and cloud technologies.
- Experience with networking, hardware support, and vendor management.
- Exposure to multi-site environments preferred.
Technical Skills
- Microsoft 365 Administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID/Azure AD).
- Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- TCP/IP networking, VLANs, firewalls, and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
- Endpoint security, Microsoft Defender, and RMM platforms.
- Remote support tools and IT documentation.
