About the Role
A well-established depot in King Williams Town is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dispatch Clerk to manage the accurate and efficient dispatch of building materials such as bricks, stone, sand, cement, and other related stock. The ideal candidate will be dependable, organized, and experienced in dispatch operations within the construction or hardware supply industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage daily dispatch operations for building materials
- Prepare delivery notes and ensure accurate documentation for all outgoing stock
- Confirm stock availability and accuracy before dispatch
- Schedule and oversee the loading of vehicles in coordination with drivers
- Perform checks to ensure correct materials and quantities are dispatched
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date dispatch records
- Liaise with sales, inventory, and transport teams to ensure smooth dispatching
- Monitor and report any stock discrepancies, damages, or shortages
- Support inventory cycle counts and stock rotation practices
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during dispatch activities
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- At least 2 years of experience in a dispatch or logistics role, preferably in the building materials or hardware sector
- Working knowledge of building materials such as bricks, sand, stone, and cement
- Computer literacy (MS Excel and dispatch software)
- Strong numerical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- A valid forklift license will be advantageous
