Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to manage our companys day-to-day financial transactions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You will play a key role in supporting the financial health of the business by ensuring all transactions are recorded and reported accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
  • Maintain general ledgers and prepare trial balances
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment follow-ups
  • Prepare VAT submissions and assist with tax compliance
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with budget tracking
  • Assist with payroll processing and statutory returns (e.g., PAYE, UIF)
  • Produce financial reports such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets
  • Maintain and organize financial records in accordance with company policies
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax authorities as needed
  • Support management with ad-hoc financial tasks and reports

Requirements:

  • Proven bookkeeping experience (minimum 10 years)
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Pastel, or Sage)
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with other MS Office tools
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
  • Confidentiality and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Certification in Bookkeeping or Accounting (e.g., ICB, SAIPA, or similar
