Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to manage our companys day-to-day financial transactions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You will play a key role in supporting the financial health of the business by ensuring all transactions are recorded and reported accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
- Maintain general ledgers and prepare trial balances
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment follow-ups
- Prepare VAT submissions and assist with tax compliance
- Monitor cash flow and assist with budget tracking
- Assist with payroll processing and statutory returns (e.g., PAYE, UIF)
- Produce financial reports such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets
- Maintain and organize financial records in accordance with company policies
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax authorities as needed
- Support management with ad-hoc financial tasks and reports
Requirements:
- Proven bookkeeping experience (minimum 10 years)
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Pastel, or Sage)
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with other MS Office tools
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Confidentiality and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Certification in Bookkeeping or Accounting (e.g., ICB, SAIPA, or similar
