About the job (Shipping Line) General Manager (GM)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee overall business operations of the Shipping Line in Thailand, including commercial, operations, documentation, and finance functions.

  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to achieve company goals, profitability, and growth.

  • Manage relationships with key customers, shipping agents, port authorities, terminals, and business partners.

  • Supervise and provide direction to department heads and ensure cross-functional alignment.

  • Monitor market trends, competitors, and industry regulations to identify business opportunities and risks.

  • Represent the company in meetings, negotiations, and corporate events with local and overseas stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with international shipping standards, local laws, and company policies.

  • Report business performance and provide recommendations to the Board of Directors / Regional Office.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Logistics, International Business, or related field.

  • At least 10 years of experience in Shipping Line / Freight Forwarding / Logistics, with minimum 5 years in a senior management role.

  • Strong knowledge of shipping operations, container line business, and local/international maritime regulations.

  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong business acumen with proven track record in managing P&L and achieving business targets.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with government authorities, shipping partners, and key accounts.

  • Language Requirement: Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin) both written and spoken.

  • High adaptability, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work under pressure.
