About the job Chief Fund Development Officer
Chief Fund Development Officer
Kids Brain Health Foundation | Kids Brain Health
One in 10 children and youth in Canada lives with a neurodisability—such as autism, cerebral palsy, or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Together, these account for roughly 75% of all childhood disability cases. Science and support for these children and their families continue to advance, yet too often those discoveries never reach the people who need them.
Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN) and Kids Brain Health Foundation (KBHF) have invested over $100 million in projects and initiatives that make a real difference. This work has been made possible through collaboration with more than 800 partners, funders, and supporters who share our vision of improving the lives of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Our innovative, evidence-informed approach made KBHN the first national network in Canada dedicated to children's brain development and neurodisabilities.
KBHF is looking for people who are passionate about helping children and youth succeed. The Chief Fund Development Officer (CFDO) is a senior executive responsible for shaping and leading KBHF's national philanthropic strategy. This role is central to the Foundation's vision: ensuring proven interventions reach the children and families who need them—at scale.
The CFDO will design and steward sophisticated, results-driven fundraising strategies, cultivate transformational donor and corporate partnerships, and position KBHF as a trusted vehicle for high-impact, evidence-driven philanthropy. Working closely with the CEO and Foundation Board, the CFDO will establish ambitious but achievable philanthropic growth objectives and be accountable for building the strategies, partnerships, and fundraising infrastructure required to achieve them.
The ideal candidate brings:
Senior fund development experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, ideally in health, community/social services, children's services, government, academia, or relevant private/public-sector settings
A relationship builder's instincts with a "spread, grow, and scale" mindset, and a deep commitment to advancing the KBH+ mission, vision, and impact
Strategic thinking and evidence-based decision-making
A strong foundation across all major pillars of a fund development portfolio
A proven ability to build coalitions, partnerships, and cross-sector collaborations
Understanding of grants and grant management
Exceptional communication skills and comfort engaging diverse audiences, including government, private-sector, and individual donors
Political acumen
A leadership style that is empathetic, collaborative, respectful, and grounded in KBH+'s core values
We are building on an exceptional platform at KBHN and accelerating KBHF's impact for those living with neurodisabilities in Canada. We invite you to apply to support this important mission.
