About the Role

We are looking for a business-minded Accounting & Finance Analyst to take ownership of day-to-day accounting for a fast-growing e-commerce brand, while also providing clear financial insight to support decision-making. This role goes beyond traditional bookkeeping and requires someone who understands the financial realities of a product-based business.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or other inventory-driven businesses and understands how costs move across the full value chain, from inventory and landed costs to payments, refunds, fulfillment, and platform fees.

You are someone who can spot mistakes, inefficiencies, or red flags, and proactively bring clear recommendations.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Own day to day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Manage and reconcile transactions across bank accounts, credit cards, payment platforms, vendor invoices, and incoming revenue.
  • Review supplier invoices, shipping costs, fulfillment charges, platform fees, and other expenses to ensure accuracy and flag discrepancies.
  • Maintain clean and organized financial records in QuickBooks to support reporting, tax preparation, and visibility.
  • Track costs across the business with an understanding of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) operations, including product cost, packaging, freight, fulfillment, returns, and channel fees.
  • Monitor financial activity from inventory purchases and landed costs through customer payments and post-sale expenses.
  • Help the business maintain visibility into margins by identifying how operational and supply chain costs affect profitability.

Cash Flow & Forecasting

  • Build and maintain a rolling cash flow forecast that reflects the realities of a product-based business.
  • Track cash movement across sales, inventory purchases, operating expenses, and supplier payments.
  • Proactively flag cash needs, timing issues, and working capital risks.
  • Support better financial planning by helping the team understand where cash is being used, where risk is building, and what actions may be needed.

Financial Analysis & Business Insight

  • Analyze profitability across products, channels, customers, or initiatives to uncover where the business is performing well and where margins are being compressed.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and inefficiencies related to spend, pricing, cost structure, inventory movement, or operational decisions.
  • Translate financial data into clear business insight
  • Partner closely with upper management to support decisions related to inventory planning, cost control, pricing, growth, and scaling.

Process Improvement & Ownership

  • Take ownership of financial processes and suggest improvements, tools, or automations where appropriate.
  • Help design simple, effective workflows for payments, reporting, and financial visibility.
  • Operate independently with minimal oversight, managing priorities and deadlines proactively.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a hybrid accounting/analysis role (ideally in small or growing businesses).
  • Strong hands-on experience with AP/AR, reconciliations, cash tracking, and financial controls.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and turn numbers into insights, not just reports.
  • Experience using QuickBooks
  • Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel or Google Sheets) for forecasting and analysis.
  • Experience working with businesses that sell physical products online is strongly preferred (Amazon and Shopify)
  • High attention to detail with the confidence to question numbers and flag issues.
  • Strong English communication skills (C1–C2) to clearly explain findings and recommendations.
  • Self-directed, independent, and comfortable taking ownership in a remote, founder-led environment.
  • Availability to align to Pacific time zone (PST)

Additional Information:

  • PART-TIME: 15 hours per week
  • Contract Type: Independent Contractor
  • Work Hours: flexible but need to overlap with PST time zone

We Offer:

  • 💰 Compensation in USD, paid via Deel
  • 🏝️ Paid Time Off
  • 💻 100% remote
  • 🚀 Direct exposure to the financial operations of a fast-growing e-commerce brand (Amazon and Shopify)
