Parts and Component Manager
SUMMARY:
As a Parts and Component Manager, you will be responsible for managing the inventory of parts, ensuring that all parts are readily available when needed to minimize downtime and maximize fleet efficiency. In meeting this prime objective, full compliance with all Company policies and procedures are mandatory with reference to health, safety, and environmental legislation. In addition, you are responsible to set up a component workshop and run it.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of store officers to support workshops daily repair and maintenance.
- Develop an inventory management strategy to ensure parts are available for fastest repair time.
- Monitor and track inventory for fast-moving and slow-moving parts to optimise inventory value.
- Work closely with maintenance technicians and fleet managers to understand their parts needs and make sure that the appropriate parts are ordered and stocked.
- Engage and negotiate with vendors for consignment and overhaul contracts.
- Keep track of the monthly workshop repair and maintenance expenditures comparing to budget and recommend engineering manager for cost accounting.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the proper handling and disposal of unused or expired parts.
- Train and supervise a team of store officers to ensure that all parts are managed and tracked accurately.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements related to parts management.
- Set up in-house major component repair centre.
- Prepare and propose yearly budget and forecast for workshops.
- Perform and ensure daily operation tasks
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in parts management, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and inventory management software with experience of using and administering Freeway.
- Understanding contracting regime and its impact on the business operation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience managing a team of technicians or staff preferred.
