Responsibilities and Duties:

Specific:

• Manage the training needs and professional development of staff
• Manage staff performance and appraisal
• Manage work distribution and leave coverage
• Provide supervision and case consultation especially for junior staff
• Review work processes to enhance efficiency
• Represent the MSW dept in internal and external meetings.
• Convenes and co-ordinate the Medifund Committee meetings
• Involvement in the Corporate Orientation of new staff
• Liaise with other organizations and networking with them to enhance patient care.

General:

• Perform social and financial assessment of patients and make recommendations
• Provide counseling to patients and families and lead in family conferences
• Participate in a multi-disciplinary team on patient-care
• Casework: Deal with a social-emotional problems of the patients and their families
• Assist in fulfilling the mission of the hospital
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Social Work / Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work
• A Registered Social Worker with the Social Work Accreditation Board
• Must have genuine interest in working with the elderly in a Hospital environment
• Good communication skills
• Ability to communicate in vernacular languages will be an advantage to converse with non-english speaking patients & family members.
