 Job Description:

  • Location: Papua New Guinea
  • Shipping industry experience is a MUST
  • Familiar with Port & Terminal regulations
  • Ability to speak mandarin as need to liaise with Chinese counterparts
  • Remuneration: Basic + Accommodation + Driver + Allowances

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, develop and grow company business in the region through formulation and execution of agreed business strategies.
  • Deliver the agency scorecard (against agreed KPIs), budget and business plans for both countries, ensuring all commercial, operational and financial targets are met.
  • Build and take ownership of approved budgets, optimise any financial exposure and assume full P&L responsibilities for all aspects of Agency and Principal operations in the territories.
  • Responsible for effective and efficient working capital management including cash and control of debtors.
  • Accountable for driving business performance regarding all commercial and operational activities as well as agency income.
  • Drive efficiency in the organisation by evaluating, implementing & improving common business processes where needed across the territories.
  • Effectively manage local cash flows and ensure the financial stability of the company.
  • Ensure local compliance with tax, regulatory and labour matters (in line with company direction and guidance).
  • Ensure teams in both locations are optimized from headcount perspective and that all opportunities for business/process improvements are made.
  • Anticipate and provide proactive solutions to all matters arising (e.g. profit decline, adverse market factors, employee conflicts, etc).
  • Ensure employees work productively and to the standards required, coach direct reports for effective leadership and develop them professionally, cultivating a diverse, sustainable and capable talent pipeline.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor/Masters degree holder, minimum 10 years of commercial & leadership experience in container/liner shipping or related industry, with P/L exposure.
  • Ideally with experience or understanding of emerging markets.
  • Excellent understanding of equipment management, port & terminal operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English
  • Excellent understanding (domain knowledge) and management of liner shipping business and its value chain.
  • Excellent leadership skills, self-motivated, open-minded with high degree of initiative.
  • Mature, adaptable and with strong commercial mindset and strategic thinking.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing multiple business objectives simultaneously.
  • Analytical ability & strong influencing skills with a collaborative work-style, fostering cooperation and teamwork.
  • Overseas work experience is preferred
  • Willing to relocate and assume work within short notice
