Technical Support Specialist

 Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for end users with regards to computer hardware and operating systems, applications and connectivity.
  • Manage tickets in service desk system and user support and respond to user queries and log tickets in service desk system
  • Assists with setting up hardware, software and related peripherals and changes and modifications to operating system and applications
  • Maintains knowledge database for variety of information, procedures, and solutions
  • Educates and assists users in usage of client applications and operating systems
  • Network / IT / Security system administration and provide Windows and MS server support and administration
  • Provide Security System and administration and maintain IT and Security system
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance, system administration and backup
  • Prepare cost analysis and advice management on equipment and software needs, and assist in purchasing procedures
  • Participate in local and regional IT projects and manage vendors and suppliers
  • Ensure systems and network facilities are in compliance with Company policies
  • Educate users with regards to security guidelines and business practices
  • Implement and maintain global, regional and local policies as and when available
  • Ensure all work procedures are well documented and maintained up to date
  • Develop and maintain issues logs with external parties to track all unresolved
  • Issue computer hardware and software to user base on company procedure and policy.
  • Assists in maintaining an inventory system, including current location of active and inactive equipment and software

Requirements:

  • Diploma in IT, Engineering or any equivalent discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in user application support or helpdesk
  • Proven knowledge of client applications, such as MS Windows, MS Office, SAP & etc.
  • Proven knowledge of MS operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 7 and later). Knowledge of Linux and MS Access database platforms would be advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of network technology, such as LAN/WAN protocols, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
  • Familiar with network applications such as MS SQL Server, MS Exchange and etc.
  • Preferably MCP certified in Win XP/7/8/10, MCSE Win Server 2012
  • Have a detailed understanding of service desk operations and procedures.
  • Able to be on standby after office hours for equipment monitoring
