Compliance Manager - Emission Trading Systems

Responsibilities
- Manage compliance with Emission Trading Systems (ETS) for the company and our Shipowning Customers in Commercial Management. The compliance manager is responsible to ensure that our Shipmanagement Centers meet their regulatory obligations under existing and future ETS schemes globally. This includes overseeing THE COMPANYs emission reporting structures and managing the companys carbon allowance accounts.
- The successful candidate will build up a team of Carbon Compliance Officers and develop and implement the reporting and IT tools required.
- The Compliance Manager role is critical to ensure that the company meets its obligations under ETS regulations and minimizes its exposure to financial and reputational risks associated with non-compliance. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of environmental regulations and the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, as well as with our customers.
Requirement
- Bachelors degree in law and economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Econometrics, Business, Finance, or a relevant field is required, with a masters degree preferred.
- Intelligent risk taker who enjoys analyzing and rethinking problems at the same time the person is interested in turning ideas into action.
- At least 3+ years of relevant experience in an environmental compliance or regulatory role, preferably in a regulated industry subject to ETS regulation.
- Relevant experience in business development and carbon project experience
- Proven track record within project accreditation process
- Strong understanding of ETS regulations, including emissions monitoring and reporting, environmental markets, and compliance obligations
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and regulations and make sound recommendations based on this information.
- Ability to work independently, with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
- Familiarity with carbon accounting software and data management systems is preferred.
- Very good communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Clear communicator in English, both written and spoken form, and able to structure ideas logically, communicate trade-offs, and explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and making decisions under uncertainty.
