Senior Radiographer

 Job Description:

Responsible for the routine management and administration of a section within the department. 

He/She is also responsible for supervising, coaching and training radiographers and other staff members to render high quality imaging services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing prompt imaging services, ensuring safety and delivering good service and care to patients.
  • Perform clinical radiography in general radiography and at least one advanced imaging modality (e.g. Ultrasound, CT, MRI, etc).
  • Perform IV cannulation and administer contrast media for radiological examinations, where required
  • Responsible for good housekeeping of the procedure rooms and work areas as well as proper care of the equipment.
  • Ensure quality assurance programmes are implemented and observed, as well as initiate system improvement within the section.
  • Adhere to safe work practices especially in radiation safety and infection control.
  • Render prompt and courteous service delivery to external and internal customers.
  • Handle difficult situations like patients complaints and queries within the department / section promptly and effectively
  • Motivate and counsel team members on personal and work related issues.
  • Build upon their strengths and help improve their weaknesses for desired results
  • Plan, organise and prioritise assigned tasks such that all are completed effectively and on time
  • Oversee the smooth operations within his/her section of specialised area and ensure proper usage and care of equipment of the section at all times
  • Supervise and guide ancillary staff (PCAs and PSAs) within section of responsibility in the day-to-day operations
  • Develop instructional materials to enhance job competencies of radiographers within the section
  • Conduct training and coaching of radiographers and update on current departmental imaging protocols
  • Ensure performance indicators of the section like waiting time for appointments and imaging services, patient turnaround time per examination are within set targets
  • Assist in the evaluation and purchase of equipment and accessories
  • Perform other administrative duties or ad-hoc quality departmental projects/activities as assigned by the Reporting Officer.


The Requirements

  • Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) registration
  • Recognised Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • 3 years specialised experience in clinical radiography such as Ultrasound, CT, MRI or X-rays preferred for senior position
  • Compassionate and good patient care
  • Strong leadership qualities

  • Customer and service-oriented.
  • Flexibility to work on shifts which include weekends/public holidays
