R77 Elite Talent is proudly supporting a fast-growing, regulated fintech/payments institution to hire Financial Crime Compliance Officers. This is a high-impact role in a tech-driven environment where youll help strengthen the firms defences against money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions breaches, and fraudwhile shaping best practice across the business.

What youll do
- Own day-to-day FCC operations alongside the MLRO: screening, alert handling, investigations, EDD, and case management.
- Strengthen the AML/CFT & sanctions framework in line with FIAU Implementing Procedures, MFSA expectations, EU AMLDs, FATF guidance, and industry best practice.
- Customer lifecycle risk management: steer onboarding for personal and corporate clients (including UBO/PSC identification, PEP/sanctions checks, source-of-funds/wealth validation) and periodic/KYB refreshes.
- Transaction monitoring: tune scenarios and review alerts; investigate unusual activity; recommend escalation, SAR/STR filing, and de-risking decisions.
- Advisory to the business: act as a subject-matter expert on products, partners, and markets (e.g., card issuing/acquiring, bank transfers, APMs, PISPs), embedding an effective risk culture.
- Regulatory engagement: prepare data and responses for RFIs and supervisory requests (e.g., FIAU, MFSA, ARB), and support Board-level reporting with meaningful MI and trend analysis.
- Risk assessments: maintain the Business Risk Assessment (BRA) and Jurisdiction Risk Assessment (JRA); contribute to product and customer risk models.
- Policies & training: keep policies/procedures current; deliver targeted AML/CTF & sanctions training to teams and the Board.
- Continuous improvement: identify control gaps, drive remediation plans, and partner with Product/Tech to enhance tooling, automation, and audit trails.
- Cross-financial crime focus: support anti-fraud/bribery controls, whistleblowing, and investigations as needed.
What youll bring
- 3+ years experience in AML/CTF, sanctions, or wider financial crime within financial services (EMI, PSP, banking, crypto, or fintech preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of FIAU Implementing Procedures, MFSA expectations, EU AMLDs, sanctions regimes, and STR/SAR processes.
- Hands-on exposure to CDD/KYC/KYB, complex corporate structures, EDD, and ongoing monitoring.
- Solid judgement under time pressure, clear written records, and crisp escalation.
- Excellent English communication skills; comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ACAMS, ICA).
- Experience with common screening/monitoring tools (e.g., ComplyAdvantage, Dow Jones, World-Check, Actimize, or similar).
- Familiarity with card schemes, SEPA/SWIFT flows, and payments risk.
- Experience supporting audits, internal reviews, or supervisory onsite inspections.

- Targeted policy/process refreshes completed and embedded.
- BRA/JRA sections updated with clear rationale and control mapping.
- Measurable reduction in false positives and tighter escalation criteria.
