Credit Manager

About the Role
Our client, a regulated financial institution, is seeking a Credit Manager to own the end-to-end credit functionpolicy, approvals, portfolio quality, and reporting. Youll lead a small team, partner with compliance, operations, and commercial teams, and ensure credit risk is managed within the organisations risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the credit department, ensuring timely handling of queries, reviews, and escalations.
- Run due-diligence and credit approval processes in line with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
- Monitor portfolio performance; conduct risk assessments, early-warning analysis, and periodic stress testing.
- Maintain and enhance credit policies, procedures, and limits; drive continuous improvement across processes and tooling.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to balance risk, commercial growth, and client experience.
- Prepare management information packs and present insights to senior leadership and relevant committees.
- Stay current on market trends and regulatory updates; recommend policy and appetite adjustments where needed.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members, setting clear objectives and performance standards.

Experience & Education
- 5+ years experience in credit management or closely related roles within banking/financial services.
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related field (post-grad/ACCA/CFA is a plus).
- Demonstrable experience leading credit processes and guiding junior team members.
Working Style
On-site first to support collaboration and coaching, with reasonable flexibility considered based on business needs.
