About the job Customer Service Advisor

Customer Service Advisor

Full Time | Office Based | Monday – Friday | Portsmouth

Are you a people person with solid customer service experience who enjoys being busy, getting involved and having plenty of variety in your day?

We're looking for a Customer Service Advisor to join a growing business at their head office in Portsmouth.

This definitely isn't a role where you'll sit doing the same thing over and over again. You'll become a key part of a friendly, close-knit office team, working alongside Sales, Projects, Technical Support and Engineering. One minute you might be helping a customer with an enquiry, the next coordinating diaries, updating information on the system or helping another department get something sorted.

It's very much an everyone gets stuck in kind of environment.

We're looking for somebody who is happy to roll up their sleeves, help out and occasionally get involved in things that might sit slightly outside the usual job description. In return, you'll get exposure to lots of different areas of the business and a brilliant opportunity to learn, develop and progress.

The Role

As a Customer Service Advisor, you'll be one of the main points of contact for customers, providing friendly and professional support over the phone and via email.

You'll take ownership of enquiries from start to finish, build genuine relationships with customers and work closely with different teams across the business to make sure things get done.

Your day will include:

  • Providing excellent customer service over the telephone and via email.
  • Managing a variety of customer enquiries and taking ownership through to resolution.
  • Logging and updating information accurately on the CRM system.
  • Coordinating service requests and bookings for field-based engineers.
  • Onboarding new customers and helping to create a smooth customer journey.
  • Maintaining customer records and documentation.
  • Building strong relationships through friendly, professional communication.
  • Spotting opportunities to introduce customers to additional services where appropriate.
  • Helping the wider team with administration and other tasks when needed.

About You

We do need you to have previous customer service experience for this one.

Ideally, you'll have worked within an office-based customer service environment, particularly somewhere you've had to deal with lots of different enquiries, customers and situations rather than following the same process all day.

More importantly, we're looking for the right kind of person.

You'll be friendly, outgoing and approachable, with a lovely telephone manner and the confidence to build relationships with customers and colleagues alike.

You'll also be someone who naturally gets involved. If something needs doing, you're happy to help rather than worrying about whether it technically sits within your job description.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Experience within an office-based or similarly varied customer service environment.
  • A confident, friendly and professional telephone manner.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • The ability to juggle different priorities and stay calm when things get busy.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
  • A genuine desire to learn, develop and progress.

Why This Role?

One of the biggest attractions is what can come after it.

Because you'll work with so many different teams, you'll quickly learn how the whole business operates. People have previously joined in customer service and progressed into other areas of the company as their knowledge and experience have grown.

So, if you're looking for somewhere you can build a career rather than simply find your next job, this could be a really good place to start.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary depending on experience.
  • Monday to Friday working hours.
  • Earlier finish on Fridays.
  • Modern, friendly and supportive office environment.
  • The opportunity to join a growing technology business.
  • Genuine development and career progression opportunities.
  • Plenty of variety and the chance to learn about different areas of the business.
