Job Purpose

The role of the Watchroom Attendant in the Rescue Firefighting Service (RFFS) is a critical component of

airport operations. Positioned at the heart of emergency management, the Watchroom Attendant serves

as a vital communication link between various departments and emergency services, ensuring a prompt

and effective response to incidents.

The primary purpose of the Watchroom Attendant is to implement and uphold the rules and regulations

governing firefighting and rescue operations at the airport in accordance with the General Civil Aviation

Authority (GCAA) standards. This role involves maintaining the operational readiness of equipment within

the watchroom, responding to emergency incidents, managing communications, and supporting

compliance with safety standards. Through diligent monitoring and proactive engagement, the Watchroom

Attendant plays an essential role in safeguarding airport operations, enhancing emergency preparedness,

and contributing to the overall safety of all airport stakeholders.


Public

Stakeholder Relations 1. Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal (peers, unions, team) as

well as external (service providers etc.) relationships and implement remedial

actions where required to ensure achievement of organizational goals and

enhance emergency response preparedness.

Training and

Development

1. Participate in educational communication best practices methodologies.

2. Attend identified development programmes for succession planning purposes.

3. Undergo theoretical training according to the Structured Learning Program.

Process 1. Duties include keeping record of all fire section movements in the fire service

log book, good communication skills for telephone and radio procedures, be

able to take and pass messages as appropriate, monitoring of the fire alarm

panel, conversant with the phonetic alphabet and airport emergency plan.

2. Initiating and implementing and follow up necessary corrective actions.

3. Effective communication of all section roles, responsibilities and authorities.

1. Reports to the watch commander or leading fireman or his immediate

1. Minimum of high school education & Fluent in the English language (both spoken

and written)

1. Competent in using computers.

To comply with the relevant safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Aerodrome Operations

Manual and Safety Management System and any other instructions or notices issued by Ras Al Khaimah

International Airport.

To comply with the safety requirements detailed within their training.

To advise their Head of Department and the Airport Duty Officer team of any safety occurrence or

system failure and to identify and report any situation of potential risk or concern affecting safety via

one of the following means.

Report directly to the Safety Department or an immediate supervisor.

Submitting an Accident/ Incident Report.

Support safety audits as and investigations as they occur.
