About the company:
A leading mining multinational mining and metals corporation involved in the exploration, mining, and processing of mineral resources and leader in sustainable and responsible mining practices. Its exploration division is currently focused on early-stage lithium exploration in Rwanda.
Job Purpose:
This role entails providing support to a broad spectrum of areas which include Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), office and camp set up and coordination, security, communications, vehicles and other related infrastructure. Supporting operations and logistics (O&L) of field exploration operations and the Kigali office, guided by the Rwanda Leadership team.
Responsibilities:
HSE
- Implement and monitor compliance with HSE related standards, contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by identifying hazards, mitigating risks, ensuring adherence to established controls and reporting any breaches/non-compliance.
- Support the coordination of HSE for office, project sites and field accommodation including safety requirements, auditing and inductions.
- Liaise with local communities to develop relationships that support our activities in the area.
Operations and Logistics
- Supporting and being involved in airborne surveys, earthworks, drilling programmes, surface sampling, office and camp work, local travel, international shipping operations, camp construction & purchasing.
- Support coordination of personnel movement to and from project sites, supplies to accommodation, project sites and logistics ground transport.
- Coordination of vehicle servicing, maintenance, repairs and upkeep including vehicle additional equipment.
- Collaborate with the exploration project team to understand needs and to provide solutions to equipment and services as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- HSE qualifications or demonstrable transferable experience to a field-based exploration environment.
- Good appreciation of the challenges and requirements of working in remote, and challenging field-based environment with a proven ability to problem solve, be resourceful, identify and action improvements to operational safety and efficiency.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, and experience with supplier management.
- Good organization and communication skills, ability to multitask, adapt to dynamic exploration operations, and detail oriented.
- Experience with a computer, proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Valid driving license with at least 2 years experience mandatory.
