Tax Manager / Tax Director

Hours: Part-time or flexible, with scope to increase

Reports to: Managing Director

Our client is a Jersey-based chartered accountancy and tax advisory firm. They are a team of eight, looking after a mixed portfolio of Jersey individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships. the work spans accounts preparation, tax compliance and advisory, company secretarial services and Jersey liquidations.

The role

Our Client is looking for an experienced tax practitioner to join them as Tax Manager or Tax Director, with the title depending on background. The role is offered on a part-time or flexible basis to begin with, with genuine scope to expand into a full-time senior position as the tax department grows.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the tax workflow, deal directly with clients, and help shape how they deliver tax services as the department develops.

Key responsibilities

Managing the personal tax compliance cycle for individual clients, including Jersey IT05 returns and supporting schedules

Handling Jersey corporate tax filings, including matters arising under the zero-ten regime, group relief and distribution rules

Trust tax compliance for Jersey resident and non-resident trusts

Advising clients on Jersey tax matters across personal, corporate and trust contexts 

Liaison with Revenue Jersey on enquiries, assessments, double tax relief claims and other

correspondence

Reviewing returns and computations prepared by other staff

Supporting the Managing Director on advisory work, including structuring, residence matters and cross-border issues

Helping develop the tax department — bringing in work, refining our service offering, and mentoring more junior team members as we grow

What we they looking for

Essential

A solid working knowledge of Jersey tax law and Revenue Jersey practice across personal, corporate and trust matters

Practice experience in a Jersey accountancy or tax firm

ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification, or qualified by experience

Confident managing client relationships and corresponding directly with clients and Revenue Jersey

Comfortable working independently and managing your own time

Desirable

UK tax experience, particularly in areas where Jersey clients have UK exposure (residence, employment income, property income, capital gains, double tax relief)

Experience of trust taxation and the interaction of trust structures with Jersey and UK tax

Experience reviewing the work of more junior staff

An interest in helping build a department rather than simply running one
