About the job Financial Analyst (Remote, US Central Hours)
We are seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our fast-paced e-commerce business. This role is pivotal in delivering timely, actionable insights that drive profitability, optimize cost structures, and support strategic decisions across our Amazon and DTC operations. Youll manage core financial reporting, analyze forecasts, and support product-level profitability initiatives - while working under the guidance of our Fractional CFO and reviewing the Bookkeepers work for accuracy and completeness.
Strong data analysis skills (Power BI, SQL, Python) are a plus, but not required.
This is a full-time remote role. Candidate must be available to work US Central Time hours (9:00 AM 5:00 PM CST).
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Analysis & Reporting (35%)

Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements using QuickBooks Online data

Conduct variance analysis against budget and prior year with narrative insights

Review and validate Bookkeeper entries for accuracy, completeness, and classification

Deliver monthly reports and executive-ready presentations with clear recommendations
-
Collaborate with the Fractional CFO to implement financial strategies and reporting improvements
2. Cost and Profitability Analysis (25%)

Analyze SKU-level profitability, including fees, shipping, PPC, and returns
-
Evaluate PPC campaign costs, launch investments, and marketing ROI
-
Track inventory-related costs like unsellable returns and lost goods
-
Identify margin improvement and cost-saving opportunities across business functions
3. Sales Performance & Forecasting (20%)

Monitor daily sales performance across US, Canada, and EU marketplaces
-
Maintain sales forecasts and analyze ACOS, TACOS, ROI, and campaign performance
-
Deliver variance reports comparing actual vs. forecast with data-driven explanations
-
Support revenue planning through scenario modeling and trend detection
4. Cash Flow & Budget Management (15%)

Maintain and update cash flow projections, integrating supplier payments and marketing spend
-
Monitor budget vs. actuals, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions

Track exchange rate impact (e.g., CNY/USD) on pricing and procurement
-
Collaborate with the CFO to ensure timely payments and maintain financial health
5. Strategic Support & Compliance (5%)

Prepare financial models and ad hoc analysis for decision-making

Monitor VAT payments for UK/Germany and support regulatory compliance

Partner with leadership and the CFO to drive quarterly planning and business reviews

Daily: Monitor KPIs, sales/PPC analysis, supplier payment schedule, exchange rate review

Weekly: Sales summaries by region, PPC ROI reports, stock disposition costs, cash forecast updates

Monthly: Financial reports (P&L, BS, CF), SKU profitability, variance analysis, VAT compliance

Quarterly: Strategic financial reviews, product ROI summaries, and CFO-aligned recommendations

Who You Are
-
Bachelors in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
-
25 years in financial analysis, ideally with inventory-based or e-commerce businesses
-
Familiar with bookkeeping review, basic accounting principles, and financial control checks

Strong communicator with the ability to simplify complex data for stakeholders

Organized, analytical, and proactive in identifying financial risks or opportunities
Nice to Have (Not Required):

Experience in Amazon/e-commerce financial tracking

Dashboarding experience in Power BI or Excel

Working knowledge of SQL or Python

Experience collaborating with a CFO or controller
