Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled campaign finance consultant to provide strategic fundraising leadership and build the finance infrastructure for a congressional campaign. This consultant will serve as the lead architect and trainer for the campaigns fundraising program, ensuring strong systems, effective candidate preparation, and sustainable donor engagement.

  • Time Commitment: ~80 hours per month
  • Contract Length: Immediately through May 2026 (~7 months)
  • Role Level & Rate: Senior Executive ($90-100/hour)


Responsibilities
  • Finance Plan Development: Draft a comprehensive written finance plan aligned with campaign goals, including projections, call time structure, donor segmentation, event fundraising strategy, and compliance guardrails. 
  • Candidate Training & Support: Coach the candidate on fundraising best practices, including call time, donor meetings, and event asks. Provide ongoing guidance to help the candidate develop confidence and consistency in fundraising outreach. 
  • Systems & Infrastructure: Establish and oversee the campaigns finance systems including donor tracking tools, pledge follow-up processes, and call time management ensuring accuracy and compliance. 
  • Team Management: Supervise and support an on-the-ground fundraising assistant or finance staffer who will execute day-to-day tasks such as data entry, call time support, and local event logistics. 
  • Donor Development: Leverage networks, affinity groups, and identity-based giving circles to identify prospects. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors and stakeholders. 
  • Event Strategy: Provide structure for fundraising events (virtual and in-person), including host recruitment, invitation processes, and donor follow-up. 
  • Compliance Awareness: Ensure all activities are in line with FEC regulations, reporting requirements, and campaign finance laws.


Role Requirements
  • 5+ years of campaign fundraising experience, ideally at the congressional or statewide level.
  • Proven ability to write and implement a winning finance plan.
  • Experience training candidates and staff in fundraising techniques.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with ActBlue, NGP VAN, or similar fundraising/donor management platforms.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to the campaigns needs and timelines.

B Suite Requirements for Senior Executives
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in your area of expertise
  • Experience as a senior or executive leader (e.g. Managing Director, AVP, VP, Chief, etc.)
  • Significant experience in team leadership, people management, coaching, and staff development
  • Proven success in setting org-wide vision and goals, driving organizational transformation, and influencing at the highest levels
  • Superior strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large projects


Compensation

Starting compensation for Senior Executives is $90/hour. All consultants are 1099 contractors. All executives are eligible for referral bonuses and free coaching and development.
